Miles for Millets

It's a reality now to claim millets are in Reincarnation. Convinced by the Health benefits provided by millets and buzz generated by millets sellers people are now accepting millets. A win - win situation for all the parties involved (consumers, sellers and farmers). While retail prices are comfortably placed we need to ensure farmers get their fair price.

Meet the team Mera Terah Run (MTR) an interesting group worth mentioning who deserves word of mouth appreciation.

MTR picks up socially relevant causes every year and combines awareness-building and fund-raising (where appropriate) to support these causes. Novel and interesting method of running a Half-Marathon on 13 (terah, in Hindi) consecutive days in the catchment areas of relevance to the selected cause(s).

2016 is the third year for MTR and cause for 2016 is "Miles for Millets". It is an effort to bring the humble millet back to the thaali. Rut starts at 15th Dec 2016

MTR cause for 2016 states "The run will promote millet cultivation, processing and consumption in tune with boosting the local millet endeavours of both social enterprises and non-profits in the region."

This year run is flagged off from Konark Hotel, Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru, by Ms. Suman Nagarkar, a Kannada movie actor, a passionate runner and a fitness enthusiast and Mr. Kothandapani KC, an accomplished marathoner and one of the best known running coaches in Bengaluru.

A small booklet with information on many different aspects of millets brought out by Mera Terah Run 2016. You can download it from their website.
